Great Leadership

“Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand.”
Colin Powell

Leading the Way

Are you a great leader in your workplace? As a spa owner, manager or employee, do you have positive tendencies when it comes to leading your team? Do you simplify projects for your staff members or do you make them more complicated? Unfortunately, the propensity to over-complicate situations is a common occurrence among inexperienced, experienced and new leaders.
Assertiveness, adaptability, intelligence and conscientiousness have all been cited as the most important qualities that represent a great leader. Embrace the qualities that you have and strive to obtain the ones you do not. It is through your leadership and direction that your employees will prosper. Be creative and encourage your employees’ creativity; motivate through recognizing and rewarding great ideas or milestones; serve as a role model, have a positive attitude and your staff will too; encourage and be genuinely passionate about goals and projects; and, most importantly, listen and communicate effectively with your employees. As a leader, it is imperative that you are direct and to the point when speaking with your employees. No one likes to listen to platitudes; they want clear, candid communication that they can rely on and trust.
By embracing these leadership qualities, you will build a strong foundation of great camaraderie between yourself and your employees. They will appreciate you and the role you play in the workplace, helping to ensure that the entire team will always work towards completing and surpassing the same goals.
